Root Galaxy S3 SC-06D DOCOMO–Simple Guide





Rooting Information: Once your device is rooted, warranty will get void; However, you can reclaim the warranty by applying official firmware update and then resetting the flash counter to 0 using apps like TriangleAway.

To confirm if you successfully rooted your Android device or not install an app called “Root Checker” which is available for free from Google PLAY store.

Pre Requisites:
As there is always some risk involve while you install anything other than what you have presently. It’s always recommended to follow our pre-requisites to stay safe.
  1. Backup your important data such as SMS, Call Log, Contacts, APN and MMS settings. You can follow our Android backup guide for this. Also, it’s good idea to backup your internal memory content to external SD card, specially when during following instruction you have to perform some type of wiping task.
  2. If your device turn off during the installation process unless explicitly mentioned on this tutorial then it may experience a hard brick. That’s why always check battery percentage before following this tutorial. Usually, the smartphone should have 60% or more power when you flash a custom ROM or firmware and it will be fine on 30% or more if you going to root it.   3. You should make sure, you have installed proper USB driver for Galaxy S3 SC-06D. Visit our USB Driver Download page. If you can access your mobile content in your PC when both are connected the your already have it.

Complete Rooting Tutorial Of Galaxy S3 SC-06D


Step 1: Download SC06D-JB-KBC-CWM-V6.0.1.2_r10-recovery-odin.tar.md5, sgs3_rooting_supersu_v3.zip, stock_recovery.tar.md5 and Odin 3.07.

Step 2: Connect your smartphone to computer and copy sgs3_rooting_supersu_v3.zip to your SD card (don’t put it in any sub-folder).

Step 3: Extract Odin zip file and you will get Odin3 v3.07.exe along with few other files.


Step 4: Now turn off your Galaxy S3 SC-06D and wait 5-6 seconds for vibration to confirm complete switch off. Then put your Galaxy S3 SC-06D in Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down + Home + Power button together until you see a construction Android robot in phone screen. Press Volume Up button again to enter into Download Mode.

Step 5: Now run Odin3 v3.07.exe that you get in Step 3 as an Administrator because Admin privileges is required to complete this installation process smoothly.

Step 6: Now it’s time to connect your Galaxy S3 SC-06D with your PC using USB cable. Do it and you will see a message under Odin’s message box in the bottom left saying “Added!!”. If you don’t get it then you should try another USB port (try USB port located in back of your desktop PC cabinet). If this still can’t solve your issue then you should reinstall USB driver for your device. However. if you successfully see the “Added!!” message in Odin then you are ready to go in next step. You should also see COM port with a number in Yellow if you successfully added your device.

Step 7: Select following file in Odin at respective button:
  1. Click the PDA Button, and select the SC06D-JB-KBC-CWM-V6.0.1.2_r10-recovery-odin.tar.md5 file.
Step 8: In Odin window, make sure only F. Reset Time checkboxes is selected.

Step 9: To make flashing safe for you double check everything that we mentioned in Step 7 and Step 8 above. Now, once you are ready, hit the START button to begin the flashing process.

Step 10: Once installation is done, a message with text ‘RESET’ will appear in Odin window. Unplug your phone and Close Odin. Hold the Power button down, once it goes black QUICKLY press and hold the Volume Up + Home buttons to boot into Recovery Mode.

Step 11: You will see a CWM recovery screen. Use the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons to jump between recovery options and the Power button to select an option. Go to “Install zip from SD Card” and then “Choose zip from SD Card”. Look for the sgs3_rooting_supersu_v3.zip file that you copied in step 2. You should be asked if you really want to do this, move the highlight bar down and select “Yes..”

Step 12: After the zip file as loaded, it shouldn’t take but a few seconds, highlight and use “***go back***” until you are back at the top menu. You should see “reboot system now”. Select that option and your device will reboot.  Be ready to put the phone back into Download Mode again by holding the Volume Down + Home buttons. Again, you have to be quick with this and don’t let the phone go into Android.

Step 13: Now it’s time to connect your Galaxy S3 SC-06D with your PC using USB cable. Do it and you will see a message under Odin’s message box in the bottom left saying “Added!!”. If you don’t get it then you should try another USB port (try USB port located in back of your desktop PC cabinet). Step 16: To make flashing safe for you double check everything that we mentioned in Step 14 and Step 15 above. Now, once you are ready, hit the START button to begin the flashing process.

Step 17: Once installation is done, a message with text ‘RESET’ will appear in Odin window. Unplug your phone and Close Odin. You can now reboot your phone.

Note: If at any point you let the phone boot into Android by mistake while CWM recovery was still flashed, then you will find some hardware functions on the phone will be broken, the ONLY way we know how to fix this, is to re-install stock ROM and start over.
